Rufus “Vinson” Spires, 69, entered into rest Sunday, March 15, 2026. He was a native and lifelong resident of Burke County. He worked at Kimberly Clark for many years, worked in construction, and was a retired truck driver. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Vinson enjoyed fishing, gardening, and listening to music. He loved the Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Falcons, and Racing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Roger Spires; and two brothers, Earl Spires and Roger Spires.
He is survived by his wife Marsha Spires; three children, Kimberly Reddick (Keith) of Waynesboro, Karlie Hattaway (Tony) of Gibson; and Michael Spires of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Blake Reddick, Ryan Reddick, Aaron Reddick, Rolie Kate Johnson, Carson Hattaway, and Gregory Spires; his mother, Esther Spires of Alexander; and a sister, Christine Smith of Alexander.
Memorial Services will be held 5:00pm Friday, March 20 in the funeral home chapel with Gary Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
