Mavis Jean (Oberlander) Brosz, 66, of Kulm, ND, went into the arms of Jesus, on Saturday, May 17, 2025. Mavis Brosz, the daughter of LeRoy and Winona (Widmer) Oberlander, was born on February 20, 1959, in Gackle, ND. She grew up on the Oberlander farm 6 miles southwest of Kulm, ND. She attended Kulm Public School, graduating in 1977. Mavis married Rodney Brosz on September 24, 1977, and they made their home on the family farm, 12 miles southeast of Kulm, ND, raising beef cattle.
Mavis was very involved in the community and served in many areas. She was in the Whitestone Homemakers, Legion Auxiliary and was the German Township clerk. She loved Jesus and was a lifelong member of First Congregational Church where she was a pianist and the church treasurer for over 20 years. She pointed many kids to Jesus by teaching Sunday School, leading youth group, and elementary aged Pioneer Club with Rodney. Mavis worked at the Hometown Credit Union for 22 years, retiring in 2024. She also worked for Kusler Greenhouse and ran her own business, Flowers Forever, for many years.
Mavis loved to garden, bake, cook, and spoil her family with all their favorite foods. She loved being a mom and grandma and attending grandkids' activities.
Mavis is survived by her husband of 47 years, Rodney Brosz. Three children: Christopher (Sarah) Brosz, Corrie (Derek) Johnson, Cayla (Jeremy) Honl. Eleven grandchildren: Isaac, Levi, and John Brosz; Ethan, Jonah, Micah, Jacob, and Lydia Johnson; Eli, Abigail, and Samuel Honl; and her sister, MarCene (Oberlander) Roth.
Mavis was preceded in death by her parents: LeRoy and Winona (Widmer) Oberlander, nephew, Bryndon Roth, and brother-in-law, Dennis Brosz.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 23, 2025, at First Congregational Church, Kulm, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 5:00-6:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:00 PM at First Congregational Church.
