While attending college she worked at Montgomery Wards in St. Paul, MN and would travel back to Kulm by train. Yvonne married Elmer Hildebrand on March 14, 1948, at First Congregational Church, Kulm. During their first year of marriage, she traveled south with Elmer and three of his friends to go custom combining. Following that they settled on a farm 10 miles south of Kulm where they farmed and ranched for several years. In 1973 Elmer and Yvonne moved into Kulm but continued to farm. Elmer & Yvonne enjoyed spending the winters in Arizona for over 35 years and traveled to places like the Panama Canal on a cruise. After Elmer passed in 2005, Yvonne continued to live in Kulm and spend winters in Arizona for several years and took the trip of a lifetime to Hawaii. She eventually moved to the Edgeley Manor and currently resided at Twin Town Villa in Breckenridge, MN.
Yvonne enjoyed sewing and was a very talented seamstress, making dresses and suits for any special occasion. She made all three of her daughter's wedding dresses, bridesmaids dress and flower girl dresses. She also made many of Elmer's suit jackets. She loved gardening and took great pride in her flowers. She also was an excellent baker and would never turn down a good bowl of ice cream. Most of all Yvonne loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
