Mavis Louise Callahan (nee Fipps), of Winfield, MO, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026 at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late Paul Callahan; cherished daughter of the late Norflake Nathaniel and Lillian Merl Fipps; devoted mother of Daniel Paul (Charlene) Callahan, the late David Paul (Camilla) Callahan and the late Deborah Paula Louise Callahan; loving grandmother of Shannon Kristine (Phil) Haxel, Tara Machenzie (Jared) Larrew, Amanda Paula Christine Callahan and Isaiah Daniel Paul Callahan; treasured great-grandmother of Violet Janele Christine Putnam, Elvis Ronald Neil and many more great-grandchildren; Mavis is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mavis was born and raised in Salem, Missouri, where she spent her early years surrounded by family, faith, and community. At the age of 15, her life took a remarkable turn when she was involved in a roller skating accident and rushed to the hospital by a kind young gentleman. That act of compassion marked the beginning of a beautiful love story—the man who helped her that day would become her devoted husband, Paul. Together, they shared over 35 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering companionship.
Mavis was a longtime member of Bible Baptist Church and later a member of the First Baptist Church of Winfield, where her faith and fellowship were an important part of her life. She was known for her strong work ethic, boundless energy, and dedication. Mavis retired from White Castle after 43 years of faithful service, a testament to her commitment and perseverance.
Always hardworking and full of life, Mavis brought warmth and joy to everyone around her. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, faith, and dedication will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and church community.
