Mavis Florene Schroeder, age 97, of Clark, SD, formerly from Redfield, SD, died April 2, 2024, at Prairie Lakes Healthcare System, Watertown, SD.
Her funeral will be Friday, April 5, at 10:30 AM at the Redfield Methodist Church in Redfield. Pastor Melissa Rowenhorst will officiate.
Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield after the service. Lunch will be served in the church hall following the burial.
Visitation will be one hour before the services at the church.
Mavis's funeral service will be live-streamed on the funeral home's website below her obituary. Hyke Funeral Home of Redfield (www.hykefuneralhome.com) has been entrusted with arrangements.
Mavis Florene Davis was born May 12, 1926, to Louis and Edith (Stahl) Davis in Redfield. She grew up in Redfield and graduated in 1944 from Redfield High School. She attended Gogebic Junior College in Ironwood, MI. She was employed at the Hallmark Greeting Card Company in Kansas City, MO and Treasure Masters in Minneapolis, MN. Returning to Redfield, she was employed by the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for thirteen years.
She married Harold Leroy Schroeder on November 5, 1949, in Redfield. To this union were born two sons, Rodney and Richard.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Martha Circle, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the Eastern Star, and Senior Citizens.
Mavis enjoyed music, poetry, and art. Sewing, crocheting, reading, and her church family and friends brought her joy, but her greatest joy came from her children, grand and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son Richard (Melanie) Schroeder, Watertown, daughters-in-law; Sharon Schroeder, Sioux Falls, SD and Deb Schroeder, Rochester, MN; four grandchildren: Stephanie Steele, Rapid City, SD, Dustin Schroeder, Sioux Falls, Sheldon (Kristen) Schroeder, Huron, SD, and Dillon Schroeder, Watertown; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one half-brother Clark (Rosa) Davis, Redfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, four brothers, and three sisters.
Casket bearers will be Dustin Schroeder, Sheldon Schroeder, Dillon Schroeder, Dave Marlow, Jason Marlow, and Erick Marlow.
