Max Griego

Max Henry Greigo, 80, longtime Guymon resident passed away Friday afternoon, July 26, 2024, at the Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas.
The son of Sinforosa Griego, Max was born June 8, 1944, in Clayton, New Mexico. He grew up in Clayton and attended Clayton school system. Following school, Max served in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Max was united in marriage to Maxine Ulibarri on March 2, 1962, in Clayton. The family made their home in Clayton, California, and Dumas before moving to Guymon in 1976, where they have resided since. Max worked for Swift and later the Carbon Black Plant where he retired after 24 years. Max was a member of the Victory Center.
Max was a man of very little words and always worked hard to provide for his large family. On his days off you could find him on the Golf course or the swimming pool. His kids said that every payday Friday he would gather the family for dinner at LeAnn's restaurant. Max loved sitting on the recliner in his garage on any given day. He loved his wife, children, and all his Grandkids and Great Grandkids and would do anything for them. Max will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his mother; one son, Paul Griego; two granddaughters: Chelsea Griego and Melissa Bougher; son-in-law, Randy Wheeler; great grandson, Randy Wheeler II; sister, Mary Jaramillo and brother, Bernardo Vigil.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Maxine Griego of the home; six daughters: Angel Martinez and husband Ronnie of Fritch, TX, Amanda Stokes and husband Robert of Guymon, Shelia Mares and husband Paul of Guymon, Crystal Wheeler and husband Billy of Guymon, Tangie Griego of Guymon, Pennie Wheeler of Guymon; one son Matthew Griego of Guymon; 26 Grandchildren, 34 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great
Great Grandchildren; two brothers: Abby Vigil and wife Margie of Dumas, TX and Jimmie Greigo and Wife Vuna of Denton, TX; and one sister, Patty Lee and husband Brian of New Orleans, Louisiana.
There will be a time of viewing at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 31st for family and friends. Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon, August 1st at 2:00 p.m. at the Victory Center with Pastor Margaret Mendenhall officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery.
