Max Coral Matson, of McCook, passed away in North Platte, NE, on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the age of 57.
Max was born in McCook, NE to parents Raymond J. and Charollette L. (Decker) Matson on December 28, 1967. He was raised in McCook and graduated from McCook High School in 1986.
Max married Ann and from this union Dawn was born. Later on, Max married Melissa and from this union, Krista and Weston were born. Max worked at Valmont for 15 years until his retirement.
Max enjoyed turning a wrench while working on mechanics. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, and hunting.
Max was proceeded in death by his parents, Raymond and Charollette Matson; brothers, Raymond and Timothy Matson; cousins, Benny Foster, Tammy Bravehawk, and Justin Patras.
Those who are left to celebrate Max’s life are his children Krista (Dylan Hays) Bose of Oberlin, KS and Dawn (Micheal) Opfer of Central City, NE, and Weston Matson of McCook, NE; grandchildren, Nicolas and Tomas Opfer, Nathan and Briella Bose, and Leon and Dax Hays; sister Laura (Allen) Gidcumb of McCook, NE; brother, Bill (Barb) Patras of McCook, NE; and numerous other family and friends.
A memorial service for Max will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM at West 1st Chapel in McCook, NE, with Pastor Johnny Walker officiating.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are suggested to the Matson Family to be designated at a later date
