In Loving Memory of Judy Ann (McDonald) Matson
February 22, 1945 ~ January 4, 2026
Judy Ann Matson passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2026, with her granddaughter, Jessica Nikole Patrick, by her side.
Judy was born on February 22, 1945, in
Spokane, Washington, to Jack and Wanda McDonald. She was raised in Millwood Washington and graduated from West Valley High School in 1963. Later she married Roger Matson on June 19, 1965, at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. After their honeymoon, they lived briefly in Opportunity, Washington, before purchasing a home in north Spokane, where Judy lived for the remainder of her life.
On December 3, 1968, Judy and Roger welcomed their first and only child, Dina Marie Matson. Although Judy and Roger later divorced, they maintained a positive relationship while raising Dina and later welcoming their only grandchild, Jessica Nikole Patrick.
Dina and Jessica were Judy's whole world. She cherished spending time with family and adopted family, whether it was going to the movies or enjoying meals at her favorite restaurants. Judy loved to read, especially romance novels, with Nora Roberts and Sandra Brown among her favorite authors. She also enjoyed cheering on her favorite teams, the Seattle Seahawks and Gonzaga Bulldogs 'GO ZAGS', poker nights with coworkers, coffee and her favorite meal: Breakfast!
Judy worked for Group Health Cooperative from February 1988 until February 2010. Even after retiring due to health complications and early-onset dementia, she remained close friends with several of her former coworkers.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Wanda McDonald; her sister, Kathy Lefkowski; her former spouse, Roger Matson; and her beloved daughter, Dina Marie Patrick, who passed away on May 25, 2025.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Jessica Nikole Patrick; great-grandson, Bently Bryant; nephews, Timothy and Thomas Lefkowski; niece, Mary Kae Leaming-Repp; great-nieces, Shyla Bush and Karissa Lefkowski; great-nephews, Lincoln and Liam Lefkowski; and one great-great-niece, Alina Bush.
Judy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her infectious laugh and her beautifully manicured nails.
