David Bounds Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harness Funeral Home on Mar. 5, 2026.
Graveside funeral services for David "Fuzzy" Bounds, 74, who passed away February 18th at the Veteran's Home of Wyoming in Buffalo, Wyoming surrounded by the love of his family and friends, will be held on Friday, March 13th at 1:30 p.m. at the Oregon Trail Cemetery in Casper, Wyoming with Bishop Jerimiah Muldowney officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.harnessfuneralhome.com.

David Lee Bounds beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born December 5, 1951, in Spokane, Washington, to Ernest Bernard Bounds and Dorothy Smith. Raised on the family farm, David developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for community-values that shaped his life and those around him.

At the young age of 17, David answered the call to serve his country. He began basic training at Fort Lewis, Washington, then continued with Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Kentucky, specializing as a mechanic and supplies specialist. At just 18 years old, David was deployed to Vietnam, where his service was marked by courage and devotion. During his deployment, he endured the loss of his brother John, who was killed in action. After returning to the United States, David was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado, where he continued to serve with honor.

David married Mary Jo Lindsey on November 5, 1971, in Summit, Utah. Together, they built a life rooted in love and family, welcoming four children: Tamra Lynn Wilson (Mike), Travis Lee Bounds, James Allen Bounds (Jennifer) and Pamela Jo Bounds. He later was remarried and had one daughter by that marriage, Rebecca Anne Bounds Shipley. David was preceded in death by his daughter Pamela Jo in June 2021, his brother John, and his sister Barb Tomlinson.

David was a proud grandfather, cherishing time spent with his grandchildren: Cody Wilson, Jenna and Trey Bounds, Talon (April), Jackson, and Gannon Focke, Phoenix and Makayla Bounds, and Odin and Starla Shipley. His legacy continues through them and the example he set for his family.

David was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and an active part of the Casper Third Ward community for many years, until he moved to the Veterans home in Buffalo.

David will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his commitment to service, and the warmth he shared with all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, sacrifice, and resilience that will inspire his family and friends for generations.
