Max Tony Montgomery, a beloved father, grandfather, and dear friend to many, passed away on August 5, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on August 26, 1950, on Saline Creek, and spent his life creating lasting memories and sharing joy with those around him. Max was known for his adventurous spirit and vibrant personality, traits that endeared him to many.
An enthusiast of travel and the outdoors, Max loved to experience new places and activities. His passions included attending bike rallies, car racing, horse racing, and riding motorcycles. He was truly the life of the party, possessing a keen sense of humor and an incredible ability to tell stories that captivated everyone around him. Max cherished the mountains and frequently traveled to Colorado, where he enjoyed camping trips with his brothers and fishing excursions with his children. One of the highlights of his life was spending time at the rally grounds with his son, Travis.
Max was a family man at heart, and while he may not have been a traditional father, his love for his children and grandchildren was unconditional. He took immense pride in their achievements and often shared stories of their accomplishments with a glow of pride.
He is survived by his sons, Travis Montgomery and wife Kamica, and Brent Montgomery and wife Whitney, all of Strang, Oklahoma; daughters, Katy Kiener and Charlie, and Kristy Caldwell and husband Austin, each of Salina, Oklahoma; step-son, Jason Roberts of Pryor, OK; brother, Joe Montgomery and wife Sharon of Denver, Colorado; sisters, Velma Hite and husband Cliff of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Joyce Kerns and husband Kenny of Salina, Oklahoma, and Inez Sellers and husband Bob of Verdigris; grandchildren, Madi, Tate, Kye, Brody, Kannie, Gavin, Jax, Gibson, Claira, River, Grady, and Carson; and great-grandchildren, Harper and Cash.
Max is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mary Montgomery; his wife, Teresa Montgomery; brothers, Carl Montgomery, Harold Montgomery, Gerald Montgomery, and Glen Montgomery; sister, Neoma Sproles; and granddaughter, Stencee.
Funeral services for Max will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 11, 2025, in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Lorne Beck officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Shipman's Funeral Home. Also, a celebration of life will be held September 20, 2025 starting at 2:00 P.M at camp copperhead in Spavinaw, Ok.
