Max E. Smith, age 75 of Garrett passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
He was born on July 17, 1948 in Garrett to Estelle and Betty (Bloom) Smith.
Mr. Smith honorably served his country in the United States Army's First Calvary Division during the Vietnam War.
He worked for BF Goodrich in Fort Wayne for 37 years, retiring in January of 2007. He had a great love for Indiana University Basketball, NASCAR, drag racing and his golf cart rides.
Survivors include:
Daughter; Monica Smith of Garrett.
Son; Ross Smith of Garrett.
Sister; Adele (Smith) Williams of Garrett.
Brother and sister-in-law; Bernie and Barbara (Tustison) Smith of Venice, Florida.
Nieces and nephews and their spouses; Jason and DiAnn Smith of Auburn, Kelly and Tim Head of Montpelier, Ohio, Mendy Smith of Montpelier, Ohio, Megan Williams and her husband Anthony Venegas of Garrett and Amanda Williams of Fort Wayne.
Many great and great great nieces and nephews as well as other extended family members.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law; Steve Williams.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 12:00 Noon to 2:30 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn.
Funeral services will take immediately following the visitation on Sunday at 2:30 PM at the funeral home with Marcia Weller officiating.
Burial with Military Honors will take place at the Cedar Creek Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made out to the DeKalb Humane Society, 5730 CR 11A, Auburn, Indiana 46706.
