Beverly Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chapel on Mar. 7, 2026.
Beverly Fae (Johnson) Smith, age 72, of Croton, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Mt. Carmel St. Ann's Hospital. Born in Lakefield, Minnesota on July 28, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Johnson and Delores (Weseman) Johnson. Beverly is survived by her loving daughter Brandi (Mike) Petersen and son Justin Smith, both of Blue Earth, Minnesota.

Also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren Lilly Matthews, Seth Matthews, and Avery Smith, as well as brothers Michael Johnson of Windom, Minnesota and Jeffrey Johnson of Sherburn, Minnesota. She is also survived by the family of her cherished life partner Kenneth "Ken" Buell, who preceded her in death in 2018. Beverly's sister Barbara Johnson also preceded her in death.

Beverly grew up in rural Minnesota on a dairy farm and retained her love of farming after moving to Ohio. She and Ken owned a grain farm and were heavily involved in supporting the Hartford Fair in Croton. She loved gardening, mowing the yard, and any outside activities that kept her close to the land. Beverly also enjoyed attending auctions and thrifting to find her many treasures she loved to collect! An avid "foodie" and coffee connoisseur, Beverly also enjoyed baking and received a record $4,000 bid for her famous pineapple upside down cake at a Harlem Township fundraiser. Beverly and Ken enjoyed cooking on the holidays for a local homeless shelter and visiting her family in Minnesota. She enjoyed serving others through her volunteer efforts at local charities.

In addition to farming, Beverly and Ken were long haul truckers with hazmat and military clearance for hauling munitions. She was very proud to have received her CDL and security rating. What Beverly is most proud of is her loving family and her strong faith in her Lord and Savior.

The family will gather in July for an inurnment ceremony, with details to be announced later. Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chapel, is honored to serve the Smith family.
