Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chapel on Mar. 6, 2026.
Nigel Dereck Goodge, beloved son, brother, husband, dad, and poppaw, passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a very brief but brave battle with cancer on March 4, 2026. He was born on April 16, 1944, in Thrapston, England and later became a big brother to his siblings, Marilyn and Kevin. Nigel lived a life centered on family, loyalty, and love. He married the love of his life, Joyce, on July 21, 1962, beginning a marriage that spanned decades and built the strong, close-knit family he cherished most.
Nigel will be remembered for his steady presence, his warmth, and the pride he took in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also loved 'Jeopardy!' and had the quick wit to match. He had a deep love for woodworking and gardening and found great joy creating. Together, Nigel and Joyce created Goodge's Greenhouse, where they spent many years working side by side and sharing their love of gardening with others. Nigel was also known as a wonderful neighbor and an active member of his community, always willing to lend a helping hand.
Nigel is lovingly remembered by his daughter Bonita Nauman and her husband Roger Nauman. Together they raised two children, Dereck Nauman and Chelsea Nauman. Dereck is married to Jess Nauman, and they are the proud parents of two children, Hudson and Brayden, who brought Nigel great joy as their poppaw. Chelsea is engaged to Christopher, and Nigel cherished watching her begin this next chapter of her life.
He is also survived by his daughter Kristie Noble and her husband Denny Noble, along with their three children: Alex Baldwin, Madison Noble, and Kassidy Noble. Alex is married to her husband Jacob Baldwin, and together they have three children, Knox, Finley, and Greyson, whose lives were brightened by Nigel's love and stories. Nigel especially loved creating special memories for the younger generations, building things that brought them joy, including a zipline and swingset, and helping make their backyard a place full of laughter and adventure.
Nigel is further survived by his son Mark Goodge, who recently retired from the Military Health Service after 36 years and continues his service supporting those who serve our great nation. Nigel was a critical part of his life and his decisions to support and build his life, and Mark treasured the time they shared together over the last 54 years.
Nigel was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marilyn. Nigel's legacy lives on through his devoted wife, Joyce, and the generations of family who loved him deeply. As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he leaves behind a family that will continue to carry forward his kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. We wish to thank our family and friends for all of their support.
