Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chapel on Mar. 10, 2026.
Thomas "Tom" Homola, age 56, of McKinney, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the home of his in-laws, Bertha and William Neeld, in Sparta, Ohio, following an almost four-year battle with cancer.
Tom was born January 20, 1970, in
Parma, Ohio, the son of Mary Beth (née Richert) and John Homola.
On June 29, 1996, he married the love of his life, Debbie (née Edwards) Homola at Powell United Methodist Church. Together they shared 29 wonderful years of marriage and built a life centered on love, laughter, and family.
Tom is survived by his devoted wife, Debbie Homola; his children, Loren Brownlee (Bob), Morgan McClure (Travis), Connor Homola (Lucia), and Sid Homola; and his beloved grandchildren, Aislynn, Jaxon, and Parker. He is also survived by his siblings, Judy Batke, Susan Snyder (Randy), and Mary Cieplowski (Casey); his aunts, Sandy and Margie; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will miss him dearly.
Tom graduated from The Ohio State University. He built a successful career in the banking industry, working for Goldman Sachs, Truist, and JPMorgan Chase. Beyond his professional life, he was deeply involved in his community and in his children's activities. He proudly served as Cubmaster for Cub Scouts Pack 318 in Delaware, Ohio, and supported many school and youth programs while raising his family.
Tom and Debbie raised their family primarily in Delaware, Ohio, before later moving to McKinney, Texas.
Tom will be remembered for his quick wit, legendary dad jokes, and his remarkable ability to recite movie lines and song lyrics at just the right moment. He enjoyed Kenpo karate, working out, spending time in nature, and cheering on the Browns because somebody has to! Tinkering on projects and spoiling the family dogs. He had an infectious laugh, a generous heart, and a deep love for life.
He especially loved holidays, Halloween, and Christmas were favorites-and treasured every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. Above all, Tom loved his family. Tom and Debbie often said they were soul mates and shared a truly special life.
Tom faced his nearly four-year battle with cancer with courage and determination, fighting hard to remain with the people he loved most.
A casual Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 15, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at Marengo United Methodist Church, 8 N. Main Street, Marengo, Ohio 43334.
Tom's laughter, kindness, and love will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
