Maxie H. Tollison, 81, of Williamston, South Carolina, devoted husband of Joyce Finley Tollison, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at his home.
Born in Greenville, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Joe and Leota Southerland Tollison. Maxie was known for his hard work and strong devotion to his career. Alongside his son, Barry, he owned Tollison Builders, where they built houses and installed vinyl siding. Maxie's commitment to his work was reflected in his perfectionism, ensuring everything he did was of the highest quality. Beyond his professional life, Maxie had a variety of interests that brought him joy. He enjoyed hunting and spending time at the lake on his boat. He had an innate ability to fix anything that was broken, which spoke to his practical nature and determination. A member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Easley, Maxie was a man of faith who shared his values of family.
In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, he is survived by his son, Barry Tollison, Sr.; two grandsons, Tim Ervin, and Barry Tollison, Jr. (Christina); a great-granddaughter, Kristin Tollison; one brother, James Tollison; and a sister, Wilva Myers.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Medlin.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. Burial will follow the service in Graceland Cemetery – West.
