Lorene Tollison

1931 - 2025

Velma Lorene Teague Tollison, 94, passed away on December, 18, 2025 at home. She was born May 11, 1931 to Clarence Brooks and Hettie Maude McGee Teague. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She loved her Lord, helped take care of her brother and her mother, who was in the nursing home, also helped take care of her father who was bedridden for over 26 years. A Christian, she will be remembered for staying active. She will be remembered for her kindness and how she met the needs of the people of her church and community. She loved helping with the children's bible drill which inspired her, seeing the young children to study and memorize God's word and hide it in their hearts. She served on various committees in the church.

She attended Tippah-Union High School for 12 years; she played basketball for 5 years and was Salutatorian of her class in 1948. After finishing high school, she attended Business College in Memphis. Lorene worked 16 1/2 years for Mississippi Extension Service and retired from Mohasco Furniture in 1994.

She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary unit 72 for 21 years (16 years in 2020) joined the Auxiliary in 2004 when it was organized and served on different committees.

She loved and enjoyed spending time with her family, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved doing crafts and working in her garden.

Services to honor her life will be on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. A visitation will be on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at United Funeral Service, and 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Church. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

She is survived by 4 daughters, Sara Robertson (Danny), Gwen Roberson (Tim), Becky McMillen (Sammy), and Glenda Mitchell (John Houston), seven grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Shirley Norman (Harry) and Brenda Teague, one brother, B.A. Teague (Barbara). She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Charles Teague, and her husband, James Tollison.

Pallbearers are the grandsons and a nephew J Roberson, Luke Roberson, J.J. Pannell, Michael Blome, Chris Holeman, Kenny Conn, Dylan Fox, and Robert Teague.
