Maxine Cyr Obituary

Maxine E. (Bennett) Cyr
A free spirit with a heart full of love, Maxine E. (Bennett) Cyr, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, at the age of 85. Born in 1940, she embraced the ideals of peace, love, and compassion. Maxine lived life on her own terms, with family, in the garden, and with music in the air. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, filled with laughter, music, cooking and love of family and her three dogs, Marriot, April, and Posi. She strived for the perfect hair color and style. She believed in kindness above all else, and her door and heart were always open.
Maxine was born in Everett, Massachusetts, and spent her childhood in Hartford and then later in Manchester, CT. She was a graduate of Manchester High School class of 1958. She attended Manchester Community College from 1972 to 1974 and earned her degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician. She and her family were very proud of her degree, as she attended college part-time while taking care of two small children.
Her greatest devotion was to her family. She was a nurturing mother, a disciplinarian when needed and a wise and gentle guide. Maxine was the center of our universe, and she taught us the meaning of happiness through her actions and sunny disposition. She always had a smile on her face and her love knew no bounds. She was never judgmental and gave advice, comfort and friendship freely.
In addition to her longtime companion and love of her life, Marcel Coderre, Maxine is survived by her two sons, Justyn Cyr and his wife, Sheila, and Barry Cyr and his wife, Sheryl; her four grandchildren, Jennifer Downing and her husband, Rich, Courtney Franks and her husband, Shaun, Steven Saunders and David Saunders; her two great-grandchildren, Cassity and Karly; her brother-in-law, Monroe Moses; her niece, Lynne Moses; and her nephew, David Moses and his wife, Paula. She was predeceased by her parents, Elliott and Jeanette (Sorgman) Bennett; and her sister, Barbara Moses. Maxine's family will carry forward her legacy of love, creativity, and open-mindedness. Her memory will live on in the stories she told, and the lives she touched with her light.
Maxine's final bit of advice, "Take Your Vitamins!"
