Mrs. Maxine Tanner Hamilton passed away from her earthly home at the age of 90 years old on February 11, 2024. She was born on October 5, 1933, in Kirkland, GA. to Dodger and Opal Tanner and was a lifelong resident of Atkinson & Berrien Counties. Maxine was a Teacher and Librarian in the Atkinson County School system for many years, ending her career as Acting Director of the Satilla Regional Library System in 1992. She was an active member for many years in the Methodist church, but since moving to Nashville, she made a new church home at Riverside Baptist. After retiring from teaching, she spent most of her time gardening and farming. She enjoyed being outdoors and visiting with friends and family. She especially enjoyed the many years she spent with her grandchildren, teaching them to work with her in the garden and spending time outside with them. Mrs. Hamilton is survived by her three children and their families, Roy and Kathie Deen of Milledgeville, GA, Angie and Alan Dratch of Marietta, GA. and Charlie and Beatriz Deen of Austin, TX. She also leaves 5 grandchildren, Billy Deen (Shelly), Beth Baker (Michael), Ben Dratch, Sam Dratch, and Ricardo Deen along with 2 great-grandchildren, Ryann Baker, and Owen Baker. Also surviving is a sister, Patsy Carter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dodger and Opal Tanner, sister Dodgerie Davis, son Billy Deen, and husband Jack Hamilton.
