Maxine Virginia Malcolm, age 96, of Crooksville, OH, and formerly of French Creek, WV, died Wednesday, April 23, 2025. She was born on April 7, 1929, in Pickens, WV, a daughter of the late Warren Hayes and Violet Merle Bennett McClain. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Franklin Noel Malcolm; one son Brad Fox; a stepson Richard Malcolm; one sister Hilda Posey; and two brothers: Herbert O. McClain, Sr. and Ford McClain. She is survived by her beloved dog "Baby Girl"; one daughter Phyllis Mullet of Crooksville, OH; one son Dave Kinnaird of Columbus, OH; two stepsons: John Malcolm and wife Betty of French Creek, WV; and Joe Malcolm and wife Debora also of French Creek; a step daughter-in-law Patty Hewitt of Buckhannon, WV; and six grandchildren: Wendy and husband Neil Bates, Timothy and wife Nicole Murnane, Christopher and Hayley Kinnaird; three step grandchildren: Rick Malcolm, Kathy and husband Joe Rolenson, and Joe Malcolm and wife Heather; eight great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter, along with several nieces and nephews.
Maxine retired from Abbott Laboratories with twenty years of service. Maxine loved spending time studying in her Bible and spending time with her family. She enjoyed her church family and activities. She loved vacationing, gardening, doing puzzles, and doing anything to keep her mind sharp. She loved nature and had a front row seat to view all of God's Beautiful Creations through the sliding glass doors in the dining room and through her large bedroom window. Maxine was saved as a young woman while watching a Billy Graham Crusade on television and is a forty-year member of the Rock Cave Baptist Church. Upon moving to Ohio, she attended Leave A Mark Church in Columbus, Ohio. Maxine felt her life was complete. She will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM, at which time the funeral will begin with Pastor David Jessie officiating. Interment will follow in the Beechtown Cemetery.
