Maxine Watts Morgan, 91, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, in New Braunfels, Texas. She was born in Hammond, Louisiana, and spent many years of her life in Pampa, Texas.
A graveside service will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Memory Gardens Mausoleum with a family friend, Rick Wardlow, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Maxine will be available for viewing from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm, on Thursday at the funeral home before her service.
The youngest and only girl in her family, Maxine was a devoted mom who also enjoyed a long career with the Cabot Corporation, retiring after many years of dedicated service. Outside of work, she enjoyed playing the piano, rarely passed up a good game of bingo, and had a special love for sweets. She will be fondly remembered for her independence and her ability to find joy in life’s simple pleasures.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Buchanan; her husband, Richard Morgan; her sons, Stephen Buchanan and Gary Buchanan; and her stepson, Steve Morgan.
She is survived by her stepson, Timothy Morgan; her daughter-in-law, Elaine Morgan; her granddaughter, Courtney Morgan; her dear friends, Rick Wardlow and Kathy King; and extended family
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256 or K9s for Warriors, 114 Camp K9 Road, Ponte Vedra, FL 32081, in her memory.
