Maxine Olberding Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Seger Funeral Home, Inc. - Stuart on Nov. 1, 2025.
Maxine was born May 25, 1937 to Alex and Bernice (Jones) McGuire. Maxine graduated from Rock County High School in 1955.

On May 9, 1957 she was united in marriage to LuVern Olberding. To this union three children were born: LeAnne, Roger, and Michele. They made their home in rural Stuart, where Maxine was an avid gardener and helped her husband with the farming.

Maxine was a longtime member of St. Boniface Christian Mothers, Stuart American Legion Auxiliary, the High Five Card Club, and the After High Five Card Club. As an auxiliary member, she enjoyed singing and dancing in the Legion shows, supporting the Auxiliary softball team by honking the horn in centerfield, and keeping the girls supplied with water and oranges.

Maxine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She cherished her time vacationing to Branson, exploring the backroads, and the occasional trip to the casino with LuVern. She loved attending the many activities of her children and grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow. She often expressed how proud she was of all of their accomplishments and would remark that she was blessed with the most beautiful great-grandchildren, whose visits brought her great joy. Maxine enjoyed her time with friends whether playing cards or sitting on the porch with a cold beverage in hand, watching the cars go by.

She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her. Maxine is survived by her three children; seven grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Her children include LeAnne (Laverne) Killion of Kearney, NE and their families Shane (Linda) Killion, Jaxson, and Beau of Kearney, NE; Seth (Lynn) Killion, Karter, Korbin, and Knox of Kearney, NE; Shannon Killion (Martin Frenzel), and Annemarie of Indianapolis, IN; Roger Olberding of Stuart, NE and his families Joshua (Kaylee) Olberding, Ryker, Ryson, and Rylee of Stuart, NE; Jamie Olberding (Jake Reed), Karsyn and Joslyn of O'Neill, NE; Michele Root and Mark Horejsi of Schuyler, Ne and her families Ashley (Jason) Prinz, Camden, Parker, and Berkley of West Point, NE; Travis (Kelsey) Root, Greyson, & Lynley of Stuart, NE. One Sister; Ellen Jackson of Bassett, NE.
