HALTOM CITY - Maxine Poynor Shipps, 93, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
Services: 2:30 p.m. Monday, September 25, 2023, in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Mount Olivet Chapel in the Breyley Suite.

Maxine entered this world in Fort Worth, Texas, to Effie May Poynor. She was the youngest of four siblings; two older brothers, Louis Poynor and Arnold Poynor; and one older sister, Doris Poynor Rogers. Maxine graduated from Fort Worth's, Northside High School, with the Class of 1948. Soon after, she began working for an insurance company in downtown Fort Worth.
She met and married the love of her life, David Shipps, on the December 31, 1953. Maxine and David soon began a family and in 1955, they celebrated the birth of David Shipps, the first of four boys. In 1957, Curtis Scott Shipps was born followed by, Louis Shipps and Don Shipps, both born in 1961. January and December respectively.
When not changing diapers and wrestling with four boys, Maxine enjoyed going to church, part-time and volunteer work, sewing, poetry and, of course, line-dancing. She undoubtedly loved her family, whether it was laughing, or spending time with them.
Maxine was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Shipps.
She loved spending time with her five grandchildren, Chris, Kelly, Rachel, Renee and Scotty, three of which are girls. She had finally got some much needed "girl-time" with her granddaughters. She was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren; Gage, Avery, Randon, Jackson, Moon, Vicki and Hudson; along with her biological grandkids were scores of neighborhood kids and friends that knew her as "Memaw." Maxine was a proud, and loving mother to her four sons; David Shipps, Scotty and wife, Debbie Shipps, Louis Shipps and Don Shipps.
Special thanks for caregiving, Louis Shipps, Kelly Shipps, Chris Shipps, Graciela Narvaez and the Narvaez family.
