Maxine Wright Vicario, 101 years young, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Logan Acres Care Center, Bellefontaine, Ohio.
She was born in Union County, Ohio on August 12, 1924, the daughter of the late Lewis L. and Edna (Gregory) Wright, both deceased.
In 1947, Maxine married John J. Vicario in Bellefontaine, and he preceded her in death on September 17, 2011. They had one son, John Michael Vicario, who is also deceased. In addition to her parents, husband and son, also preceding her in death were her brothers, Foster, Harold, and James plus her sisters, Helen Wright Lockwood, Mary Jane Wright Rapp, Mildred Wright Nau, and Bonnie Wright Kavanagh. Five nieces and eight nephews are also deceased.
She is survived by nine nieces and three nephews plus a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews, and many friends. The family wishes to thank her doctors and all the wonderful staff at Logan Acres for the care she has been given over the last several years. Also, a special thank you to Ray, Mary, and Sue for their dedication to Maxine over the years while she was at Logan Acres.
A graduate of Washington High School in Byhalia, Ohio as well as Marion Business College, Maxine worked in the offices of the U.S. Government for many years. During WWII, she was employed with Wright Patterson Air Force Personnel office and was an active cadet with the U.S. Civil Air Patrol, Marion Division. Maxine worked for Conrail and DAB in Bellefontaine before retiring in 1984.
She was a long-time member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and had participated in the church’s music programs for many years.
Father Shawn Landenwitch will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 11:00am in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bellefontaine. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass, from 10 to 11am at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Bellefontaine.
Following the burial, there will be a Mercy Meal for family and friends served by Mrs. Shirley Meeker and the women of St. Patrick’s in Makley Hall. All are welcome to come and say "hello" to Maxine's family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of St. Patrick Catholic Church, 328 E. Patterson, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311 or to Byhalia Friends Church, 31654 St. Rt. 31, West Mansfield, Ohio.
