McLeroy "Mac" King

McLeroy (Mac) King, of Tampa, FL passed away on February 13th, 2017 at the age of 82. Born in Wortham, Texas, Mac was the eldest son of Clark and Ann Bennett King. He was raised in Shreveport, LA along with his two brothers, Bobby & Carl, and his two sisters, Jeannette & Jackie, where he attended Fair Park High School. Following high school, he then served in the US Army, where he attained the rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC). After being honorably discharged, Mac went to Louisiana Tech University, graduating with a degree in electrical engineering. Upon graduation, he moved to Tampa to begin a 31-year career with Tampa Electric Company, holding various engineering and management positions throughout the company. In Tampa, Mac established his family and became a pillar of the community, serving as an Elder and usher at Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church for more than 40 years and coaching youth baseball at Tampa Bay Little League for nearly 20 years. Three of Mac's Tampa Bay All-Star teams progressed to the Junior, Senior, and Big League World Series tournaments, winning the 13-year-old Junior World Series in 1985 and placing second and third in the other two. Mac is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sidney Diane Walker King; their son, Aaron Walker King and his wife, Damon, and their four children, Skyler, Salvadore, Kyauna & Aaron Lee; and their son, Kevin Bennett King, and his wife, Leonette. His wake will be held On Thursday, February 16th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Brewer & Sons Funeral Home, 3328 S. Dale Mabry Hwy. The funeral service will take place on Friday @ 11:00 AM at Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, 3501 W San Jose St. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at the Florida National Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association or Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church.
