Meagan Jewel Blare was born in Corsica, SD on October 17, 2002, the fifth child in her family. Her older sister was thrilled to have another girl in the family and Meagan soon grew to love the challenge of keeping up with her brothers. She was a natural mother hen to all but also had quite a sassy side on occasion.
Meagan always had the ability to find the silver lining in every situation. She seemed to know what people were feeling and how to handle it. This attitude and positivity followed her always.
She was involved in many activities including 4-H, FFA, track, cross country, drama productions, stage fright, cheer, dance, FCCLA, All State Choir, and National Honor Society. In these activities she received many honors and awards. By her senior year she was involved in eight state events through the school and even though she started with a hairline fracture in her foot, she remained resilient and pushed through cross country cheer and dance practice. She was also involved in many community and church activities such as youth group and numerous church camps. She loved being social and involved as much as she could.
She graduated from Winner High School in the spring of 2021 and sought a higher education at the University of Sioux Falls where she made lifelong friends and memories running track and cross country. She returned to Winner and became a 911 dispatcher in July 2022. She was known for her calm demeanor, clear voice and confidence in her work.
She loved living in Winner and fostering rescues for the police department but that didn't come as a surprise because she had always loved animals. This is how she got her first dog Moxie, later her golden retriever Willard, and her cat, Kit Kat.
Meagan was diagnosed with a rare and incurable cancer at age 20 and faced each step of the way with a determination to live life joyfully and in the steadfast trust of God's love. Shortly after her diagnosis she ran a half marathon in Minnesota with her college friend, and took a girls trip to Nashville.
At times she struggled with why this happened to her, but she often talked about how blessed she was. She loved the birds and they reminded her that God takes care of even the sparrow, so He also takes care of her. She lived life trying hard to rest in the joy of that peace evident often by her heartwarming smile and cheery words for others. When in the hospital she often prayed for her family and friends to have the same faith and peace.
Meagan had a unique and deeply loving relationship with all of her siblings. She enjoyed being able to cheer on her siblings in every aspect of their lives and spoiling her nephews Hudson and Gunner. Showing up for her family and friends to watch and cheer them on was one of her greatest joys. She loved deeply, gave generously and often selflessly of herself. She enjoyed hosting her siblings and friends for movie night, and bowling. She liked reading, writing, gardening, and volunteering at the library.
Meagan's parents Rusty and Rita Blare were honored to watch her special connections with people. Her siblings include Cody, Jessica Adams (husband, Dusty), Nick (wife, Joclyn), Elijah, Amanda, Austin, and Jed Blare. Her nephews are Gunner and Hudson Adams. She was blessed with four grandparents that shaped her love and her perspective in life Colleen Blare and Milly Mulder and she is now joyfully dancing in heaven with her grandpas Duane Blare and Carl Mulder.
