Manuelita Patterson, known lovingly to all as Mela, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones, at the age of 97.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ramon and Regina Lopez; sisters: Terry Romero, Isabel Ortega, Chris Nolan; brother Ramond Lopez; and grandson Keith Patterson.
Mela is survived by her son Raymond Patterson and his wife Pamela; daughter Rita Montano and her husband Phil; along with two grandsons, two granddaughters, four great-granddaughters, five great-grandsons, two great-great-granddaughters, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mela was known for her warm spirit and humble nature. Faith was the cornerstone of Mela’s life, and as a devoted Catholic, she found strength, comfort, and community within her church. She served through acts of service and kindness, embodying the true spirit of love, generosity, and humility.
Mela leaves behind a legacy defined by warmth, kindness, hospitality, and a zest for life. She filled her years with friendship, joy, and countless cherished memories. Her family and friends will forever treasure her gentle heart, her laughter, and the grace with which she lived her life. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mela’s Life Celebration will begin with a Visitation, which is scheduled for Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St SW, 87102. Rosary will be recited at 4:00 PM. Final Viewing will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at Salazar Mortuary. Mass will begin at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 309 Stover Ave SW, 87102. Mela will be laid to rest following the Mass at Mount Calvary Cemetery located at 1900 Edith Blvd NE, 87102. Reception will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish Hall.
Pallbearers will be Chris Montano, Jay Banks, Elijah Barricklow, Rian Barricklow, Christian Barricklow, and John Barricklow.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Eric Montano.
