Born on December 10, 1991, in Chester, Pennsylvania, Mel was the daughter of Joyce L. Allen and Galen Gardner.
Mel had a passion for cooking and was trained in Culinary Arts. She obtained her G.E.D. from Job Corps. Mel had a roaming spirit. She loved to be outside and around people, loved to laugh, and delighted in cook-outs and holiday dinners. She was a serious "foodie".
She is preceded in death by her deceased loved ones: her son, Khalil Robinson; her grandparents, Lawrence B. Allen, Jr. and Delma Allen; her uncles, Lawrence (Larry) B. Allen, III, and Leon Drummond; and her aunt, Marjorie Pulliam. She is survived by and leaves to mourn: her son, Champion Robinson; her mother, Joyce L. Allen; her father, Galen Gardner; her sister, Alexis Gardner; her aunts, Marilynn Watts and Robin Drummond; her uncle, Herman Pulliam; her paternal aunts, and many close cousins and relatives.
Nehemiah 8:10: Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is in your strength.
Services are private.

Joyce,
As a mother and Melanie's cousin, this hit hard and I'm so sorry for your loss.
I remember braiding Mel's hair and listening to the way she talked about school and boys. She surprised me with some stuff but she also had me cracking up. I wish I had more conversation with her, and although we loss contact, I never stopped thinking about her. I always asked Uncle Galen about her and her son. She will be missed and I'll keep you and Champion in my prayers.
