Melanio Mazatli Bacus
Our dear relative and friend, Melanio (Rocky) Mazatli Bacus, was born June 19, 1977, to Frank Monga Bacus and Raquel Lulas Ablaca in Bakersfield, California, and he met his maker November 7, 2025.
He is survived by his girlfriend, Jyllian Lee, his daughter Jade Bacus DiMonico, granddaughter Arabella and grandsons, Bradley and Landon. He also leaves behind his father, Frank Bacus, stepmother, Priscilla, brother David (Sara) and sisters Annalisa McKenna (Christopher) and Cassandra (Scott Dirkse).
He is preceded by his mother, Raquel Ablaca, grandmother, Dolores Elola and younger brother, Francisco Bacus.
He attended Bakersfield Adventist Academy before moving to Woodland, CA with his grandmother, his brother,Francisco and his cousin,Rudy Baltazar. He graduated from Woodland High school where he was a member of the football team. After high school he joined the Air Force and flew all over the world before settling in Oklahoma, where he met Sara and they welcomed their daughter, Jade Keely Bacus. After his discharge, Melanio moved back to Bakersfield to be near his father, Frank, and other members of his family. After a period of working in an Alaska Cannery, he returned home again to help open a new restaurant franchise in Bakersfield. Then he finally landed his dream job working for Local 220 Labor Union, becoming a pre-apprentice and training to become an electrician.
Although quiet in nature, he was a San Francisco 49er fan, he loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and he kept fit working out with weights. He was frequently present at many family gatherings for birthdays and holidays but preferred to remain in the background. Contrary to his physique, he was soft spoken, quiet, and was loved and respected by his large extended family and his friends.
He will be truly missed. Rest in peace, Melanio!
