Melba "Jean" Brown Scott was born November 10, 1949, in Coweta County to Ruby "Snook" and James "Nap" Brown. She transitioned from this life to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 21, 2024.
She confessed her life to Christ at an early age, when she joined Shady Grove Baptist Church and was an active member in the choir until her health failed. Melba enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, and dancing and was also a Newnan Socialite Social Club member. Melba retired from Owens Corning, in the early 2000s after 37 years of service.
Melba is preceded in death by her daughter, Sherri Johnson; grandson, Brandon Neely and two great-grandchildren, Halo Arnold and Braylon Jackson.
Melba leaves to cherish her daughter, Tammi (Charles) Brown of Riverdale; special daughter/granddaughter, Tiara (Janet); eight grandchildren, Tiara (Tremoor) Montez, "Shawn", Shante (Tra), Madra (Shamus), Iesha, Melba, Jasmine, Tyrell; twenty-six great-grandchildren; life long partner, James Scott; special son/caretaker, Gabriel Parks; one sister, Ruby Houston of Newnan; one brother, Jerry (Felicia) Smith of Newnan; sister-in-law, Maxine Brown of Carrollton; son-in-law, Dennis Jackson of Newnan; close friend, Missy Harris and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
