Melda Bryant Witherby

A funeral service for Melda Bryant Witherby, 87, of Anniston, Alabama, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at K.L. Brown Funeral Home, with Reverend Jerry Starling officiating. Burial will follow at West Point Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Witherby passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, March 28, 2026, at Anniston Health and Rehab.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jan Raper; stepdaughter, Leigh Ann Blaylock (Ricky); cousins, Evelyn Kilmartin, Eleanor Rolax, Edie Giordano, Jimmie Neal, Eddie Bryant, and Glenn Bryant; and special friends, Ann Holden, Carol Garner, Jason Aldredge, Evelyn Davis, and Amber Biddle.

Mrs. Witherby was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Frank Raper and Michael "Mike" Witherby; her sons, Tony Raper and Timothy Raper; her stepson, Mike Raper; and her brothers, Donnie Bryant and Billy Bryant.

She was a faithful member of Angel Grove Baptist Church and dearly loved her church and church family. Mrs. Witherby will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother, and as a loyal and caring friend to many.
