Melinda R. (Mapp) Burks, 50, of Columbus, Ohio passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025. She was born in Springfield, Ohio on April 19, 1974 to the union of Debra and Danny Mapp.

She enjoyed doing hair, traveling and being a medical assistant. Melinda lived a full life and to know her was to love her. If you got the chance to get to know her, you found out Melinda didn’t play (IYKYK) and she loved hard. She loved music and just kicking back.

Melinda leaves to cherish her memory: her parents, Debra and Danny Mapp; daughter, Courtney Burks; sons, Dayron Mapp, Jalen (Monika) Burks, and Cortez Burks; brother, Michael (Kim) Moss; sisters, Monica Moss, Angie Moss, and Sherrell Mapp; best friend, Alexis Stevenson; long time companion, Ronald Jackson; bonus sons, Marlon Burks, and Corey Burks, Jr.; bonus daughter, Kameel Tooson; niece, Marissa (Hezekiah) Montgomery; nephew, Michael DeArmond, Jr.; seven grandchildren; and a host of aunts, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Danni Rose; maternal and paternal grandparents; and four uncles.

We would like to thank Dr. Novak and his staff, as well as, Kinley Funeral Home for help at this heartfelt time.

Memorial service will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21 2025 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1171 S. Yellow Springs St., Springfield, Ohio 45506. Repass: Davine Occasions Event Center, 1776 Lagonda Ave, Springfield, Ohio 45503.
