Eunice Gail Carter, 83, of Springfield, Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2025 at Soin Medical Center where she was surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield on September 11,1941 in Springfield, Ohio to the late Otis and Beatrice (Gideon) Owens.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin, niece, and great friend and second mom to many; Eunice was a devoted, loving wife and mother, and an even more magnificent grandmother. She worked as a private Nanny for the late Dr. Dennis and Joni Sullivan, where she cared deeply for their five children: Michael, Joe, Patty, Brenden, and Andrew for over 35 years.
Eunice enjoyed going rummaging with her sister Joyce on the weekends. She took pride in the way she did her laundry “no one could get laundry white like her in her opinion. She loved cooking. To many she was the #1 best at frying chicken. Anytime the Owens family had a family reunion that was the most requested dish by her family. She was an exceptional cook.
Left to cherish her memory are four of her five children: Robin Carter Lane, Kenneth (Tina) Carter, Dana (Steve) Carter Cosey, and Gary (Pamela) Carter; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Wilson, and Eleanor Guy; caregiver for the past 10 years, Gina Evans; special friends, Genifer Robinson, and Bernice Haynes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Otis and Beatrice (Gideon) Owens; husband of 70 plus years, Kenneth Carter; son, Eddie Bae-bae” Carter; great-great granddaughter, Dymond Cosey Ross; four sisters, Maxine Miller, Mozella Stevens, Bonnie Mae Owens, and Dorothy “Dott” Guy; six brothers, Eddie ”Sneak Owens, Bobby ’Boo” Owens, Norvell “Dah” Owens, Lloyd “Dough” Owens, Otis L. “Buck” Owens, and Kenny Gideon.
Visitation will held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral service 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Restored life Ministries 1117 Innisfallen Ave, Springfield, Ohio 45506. Final Resting Place: Fern Cliff Cemetery. Family will gather immediately following the services for repass at The Soul House located at 2205 Park Rd, Springfield, Ohio 45504 in the banquet room.
With heartfelt thanks, the family wishes to acknowledge the many expressions of love, acts of kindness, prayers and concerns shown to us during this difficult time of bereavement. A special thanks to her caregiver, Gina Evans, for the last 10 years for all the care she provided. Special thanks to the Soin Medical Center staff for all the excellent care. May God bless you all.
