John Robert Orban, age 78, passed away on February 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son.
John was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, the eldest son of John and Helen (Mitchell) Orban. He graduated from St. John Central Catholic High School alongside his high school sweetheart, Janet Lloyd. He went on to graduate with his Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Ohio University and then received his graduate certificate in Physical Therapy from the University of Pennsylvania.
In July 1969, John married his high school sweetheart, Janet, and they enjoyed 56 years together building a wonderful life. The next year, he began his 42-year career as a Physical Therapist. He worked throughout Ohio serving over 20 years at the Center for Occupational Health and Medicine at Community Hospital in Springfield, Ohio, as well as providing care to many Madison County residents in their homes.

During that time, he was an usher and eucharistic minister at St. Patrick Catholic Church, served on the Madison Health Foundation Board, and was a coach during the inaugural season of the Kiwanis Soccer League, coaching not only his daughters but also his three cherished granddaughters. John was an avid golfer. He was proud of the two holes-in-one that he shot at London Country Club. When not on the links, he enjoyed playing cards, traveling with his family, and engaging in a myriad of tasks in his yard and home. Demonstrating his devotion to his family, he could always be found cheering on his granddaughters in all their endeavors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen, Father-in-Law and Mother-in-Law Edward and Dorothy Lloyd, Brother-in-Law Dennis Lloyd, and Sisters-in-Law Kathleen Kaluger and Rosemary Lloyd.
