Melinda Tucker Obituary

San Antonio - Melinda George Tucker passed away in the late afternoon of Tuesday, November 12th after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family and friends, who were each uniquely and tremendously blessed by her presence in their lives. Melinda was born on September 15, 1972, in Odessa, Texas to Amanda and Fred George. As the oldest of four children, she loved to dance, and she cheered for Permian High School and Bonham Junior High, where she began dating her future husband, Brian Tucker. She attended Texas Christian University and married Brian in 1997. He is widely considered to be a very lucky guy. Together, they moved around the world, from New York, to Germany, to El Paso, Odessa, Tyler, Fort Worth, Corpus Christi, and finally, San Antonio. During her time in Odessa, Melinda loved her community at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.

Melinda is survived by many: her mother, Amanda George, her three siblings, Ben George, Amy Koch, and Sarah Branum, her husband, Brian, and their five children. Her three sons, William (23), John Paul (19), and Luke (17), and her two daughters, Emma (21), and Lillian (6) each immensely miss their mother.

Melinda loved to travel, and the trips she planned were always incredible. She was tough and fought until the very end. We are all very sure that she is up there in heaven watching down on us with her father, Fred, and her grandparents, Dorthy and PJ Wallace, and Sheila and Charles George.

She brought so many souls to her beloved Catholic faith, and her belief in the grace of God and the love of the Virgin Mary never faltered. She received the Eucharist just before she passed. She was at peace. Her powerful personality allowed her to build a beautiful community around her. Her funeral mass, 2:30 on Sunday, November 17th at San Antonio's Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, will be a testament to that fact. Additionally, there will be a memorial rosary in her honor at 6:00 on Friday, November 15th at Our Lady of Grace. She will be incredibly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Guadalupe Home, a project of Catholic Charities of San Antonio.
