Melissa Ann Gardner Ames

June 29, 1967 - March 10, 2026

Melissa Ann Gardner Ames of Dunnellon , Fl passed away on March 10, 2026, at the age of 58. Melissa lived life to the fullest each and every day. She was always willing to help anyone with anything and if she didn't have the means, she would find a way to help. Her generous spirit and unwavering kindness touched the lives of many.

Melissa cherished her Florida friends, many of whom she considered family. Special thanks are extended to Fay, Debbie, John, and Buddy for their devoted care and support during the past 14 months while Melissa was ill.

Melissa adored her children, Zachary (Alyssa) Ames and Megan Ames, and was incredibly proud of them. Known for her generous heart, Melissa would give the shirt off her back to help someone in need. She was never afraid of hard work and truly enjoyed every moment of it.

For many years, Melissa was dedicated to serving customers through her business, Crystal River Cap and Truck Accessories, which she proudly ran since 1993. With the help of her devoted employees, Jack and Larry, Melissa took great pride in helping her customers and being an active part of the community she loved so much.

Melissa also had a deep love for animals. Her dogs-Magnum, Sadie, and Callie-were her constant companions, and she cared deeply for her two horses, Midnight and Katie.

Melissa is survived by her loving mother, Kathryn Gardner; her sisters, Debbie Dillender and Donna Newcomb; her son, Zachary (Alyssa) Ames; and her daughter, Megan Ames.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dick Ames, and her father, Harry Howard Gardner; a sister Dianne Wells and brother David Kirkman.

Melissa will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her kindness, strength, and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
