Melissa was born in Marietta, Ohio on April 8, 1982, a daughter of Neal and Sandy (Moore) Pinkerton. A graduate of Warren Local High School in Vincent, Ohio, she later attained a bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University. She worked in administration at the Head Start program of Youngstown, supervising various locations.
Melissa married Lucan 'Luke' Christy, and together they had two children, Mackenzie and Jax. She was a Girl Scout leader with Mackenzie and soccer coach for both children. She volunteered at their schools, helping during the holidays. Melissa ran several marathons and half marathons with her friends. She enjoyed vacationing at Myrtle Beach. Most of all, she loved watching her children participating in sports – Mackenzie with dance, gymnastics and softball and Jax in flag football, basketball, and wrestling.
She was an amazing mother, daughter and sister and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Melissa is survived by her husband Luke Christy, parents Neal and Sandy Pinkerton, daughter Mackenzie and son Jax, and two brothers Brian (Jen) Pinkerton and Andy (Kara) Pinkerton. She will also be missed by her cat Snowflake and dog Graham Cracker.
The family has entrusted Kubina Yuhasz Funeral Home, 5925 Market St., Boardman, OH, with Melissa's arrangements. They will receive friends from 10:00 am to 12:00 PM on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Old North Church, 7105 Herbert Road, Canfield, OH. A funeral service will follow at noon at the church.

We were so so sorry to hear of Missy's passing. Praying for you Luke, And the family too. (You bought your home from Jim and me). God bless your days ahead. You have the best neighbors who will be there for you if you let them. Again, I am so sorry.

We all are saddened for your loss. To the Pinkerton family, Missy was always the little sister to all of us boys throughout the years, she was the giggle in the room while we were always causing ruckus. Luke I cannot begin to understand your sadness for you and your children I know how much of a great mother and wife to you Missy was. I am truly lucky to watch her grow up through the years.

Missy and I ran together for a couple of years. Such a beautiful soul. A great person for sure. I will honestly miss her.
