Melissa Elaine Fulkerson, born on October 20, 1966, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2025. A dedicated homemaker, Melissa devoted her life to her family and created countless cherished memories in their hearts.
She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, James Fulkerson; her daughter Amber Fulkerson, who is married to Huston French; and her beloved grandchild, Maverick Memphis French. Melissa also leaves behind her siblings, Frank, Robbye, Betty, Julie, Lisa, and Kay Wheeler who will miss her dearly.
Melissa had a vivacious spirit that brought warmth and joy to those around her. She had a passion for cooking, frequently watching cooking shows and trying out new recipes. A fan of comedy shows, Melissa embraced laughter and found great joy in sharing those moments with her loved ones. One of her fondest treasures was an angel stone received from her sister, a symbol of their special bond. Melissa also had a deep affinity for horses, admiring their freedom as they roamed through open fields and appreciating the beauty of these majestic creatures.
Her love for her grandbaby Maverick was profound, as she often spoke of him with pride and joy. His smile brought her immeasurable happiness.
Melissa was preceded in death by her siblings, Rebecca and Rita, as well as her father, Frank Wheeler, and her mother, Antha McKinney Wheeler. Though she has departed from this world, her legacy will live on in the memories shared by her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on October 4, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Maraman Billings Funeral Home, located at 605 South Preston Hwy, Shepherdsville, KY 40165. Melissa's family invites all who knew and loved her to join in celebrating her life.
