Brayden and Elijah--
I was a classmate and friend of your mother's for many years, and I wish I could give you both all the years of friendship with her that I was so lucky to have. Missy was a true romantic and always saw the good in people. The first high school sweetheart I ever had was a result of a setup she arranged, she was such a matchmaker! I hope that you boys can feel her presence throughout your lives; she will always be around looking out for you. Keep her memory in your hearts, and know that you will see her again someday.
My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by this tragedy. Missy was such a bright star, and I know she will be greatly missed by many.

Dear Garrett Family,
I am sorry for your loss. I did not know Melissa personally but was a graduate of Shawsville in 1998 and do remember this pretty face. I pray God will surround you with his loving arms and gove you that peace that passes all understanding, a peace in which only he can give.

Melissa and I became good friends while working together at Elizabeth Arden. I will never forget the laughs we shared. She had a real concern for others especially her boys. I wish peace in their lives. There are many people who we cross paths with in life, but I will always remember Melissa.

We will miss Melissa. We'll never forget the laughs that we have shared together at EA, especially at the banquet. It's still so hard to believe that she is really gone. We take comfort in knowing that this is not a final goodbye. It's just goodbye for now.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family as they get through this difficult time.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Your daughter and mother and my dear friend will be missed deeply. She was a good and loyal friend. We met when she started work at Elizabeth Arden. Melissa was a exceptional worker and I quickly learned that I could count on her in a pinch to get the job done. She was well liked by her fellow coworkers. She had a great since of humor and was very open with her life struggles.Always hopeing that her story would help some one else.Melissa was a thoughtful and generous person. I will miss our shopping trips and haveing her to meet for dinner or a drink to just relax. She often talked of her dream to become a counsler so she could provide for her boys and her self. She spoke of her faith in God and so I know she is in heaven now at peace and will still look over and protect Brayden and Elijah.Just know you do not grieve alone Melissa was loved by many and will be sadly missed.

Dear Missy,
Words can not begin to express the anguish I feel. Happy memories of our childhood have helped to carry me through the past few days. I know we did not always see eye to eye, but I hope you never doubted how much I love you.
God gave you that wonderful opportunity to experience the innocent unconditional love of a child, not once – but twice. I too, with Mom and Gordon will see that your memory will live on with them.
I know your soul is now at peace as God holds your hand. I will always love you Missy. One day we will meet again.
Your Sister,
Emily
