Melissa truly lived life to the fullest, she never wanted to be defined only by her mistakes. She was beautiful, intelligent, and a multitude of other things. Melissa could be feisty and outspoken, she always wanted to be the life of the party. Melissa could always light up the room with her smile and sense of humor even while struggling with her own demons. Melissa believed strongly in second chances, maybe because she craved another chance herself. She loved all things that sparkle, Melissa was a loving mother, sister, grandmother (Mamou), and MeMe. She loved spending time with family and talking about stories from her childhood. Melissa had a very special lifelong friend (Zonya Johnson) that never gave up on her no matter the circumstance.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: ShyAnn Tatterson (Gary) of Lena, LA, Devin George of Deville, LA, and Abbey George of Flatwoods, LA; sister Michelle Rachal (David) of Flatwoods, LA; nieces Neana Contreras (Robert) of Clifton, LA and Vanessa Lester (Ben) of Flatwoods, LA; nephew Lil David (Lexie) of Flatwoods, LA; and her grandchildren: Taylen, Camden, Gwendolyn, Jazlyn, Johnny Ray, and Julian due in November 2024, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Gary Tatterson jr. Lil David Rachal, David Rachal, Ben Lester, Joey Gilmore and Harvey George. Honorary pallbearers will be Devin George, Robert Contreras, Taylen Tatterson, Camden Tatterson, Johnny Ray Tatterson, and Julian Tatterson.
