Melissa Virginia Satterfield Snodgrass, 54, of Fairmont, West Virginia passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. She was born in Grafton, West Virginia, the daughter of late Kermit Mersing and Barbara Jean Shaffer.
Melissa was a homemaker and loved to cook, do crafts, and was a member of Welcome Missionary Baptist Church in Fairmont. She enjoyed traveling and going on motorcycle rides, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband Homer Snodgrass, daughter Amanda (Randall) Haller, grandchildren Connor Haller, Talia King, Naomi Satterfield, Haylee Haller, Randi Haller, Everly Pratt and Kenzi Swiger, sisters Sheila Catterall and Marie McKinney, cousin T.C. Swann, stepmother Violet Setler and stepfather Danny Setler, several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Melissa was preceded in death by her son, Ian Satterfield, brothers Jr Mersing, Clarence Mersing, uncle Donnie Mersing and aunts Penny Haynee and Pat Braddock.
Family and friends can gather at Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Welcome Missionary Baptist Church, 51 Linear Street Fairmont, WV 26554 at 10:00 am with Pastor Paul Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
