Melodee Anne Walder was born on December 26, 1961, in Inglewood, California, to Willis and Marjorie Walder. She graduated from La Mirada High School in 1980 and continued her education at Rio Hondo College, where she earned a certificate in Early Childhood Education.
Melodee devoted her life to nurturing and teaching young children. She worked in early education for over four decades, serving as both teacher and director at two Southern California preschools: East Whittier Christian Church Preschool for 27 years and Faith Lutheran Preschool for 13 years.
In June 2020, Melodee moved to Auburn, Kansas, to live with her cousin Christie Bauerle. There, she continued her lifelong passion for helping children at a local preschool and later as Head Secretary at Auburn Elementary School.
Although Melodee never had children of her own, her kind and generous spirit touched the lives of countless students, families, and colleagues. She was deeply devoted to her friends and family, and she especially cherished spending time with her nieces and nephews. She loved all things Disney, especially Mickey Mouse, and her many trips to Disneyland. Above all, she had a deep and abiding love for Jesus, which guided her life.
Melodee passed away on November 9, 2025, after a two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. She is survived by her brother Steven Walder and sister-in-law Mona; nephews Jack and Luke; and nieces Bailey, Isabella, and Anneliese. She will be remembered for her faith, kindness, and the joy she brought to so many.
