Melody Petras Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lafferty & Smith Colonial Chapel - Santa Rosa on Mar. 31, 2026.
Today I embarked on a new journey. One I've traveled before never for this result.
The stress has been high, the worry overwhelming, the heartbreak I thought I'd never have to feel again (maybe denial) but it's a journey I chose.
Thank you to my granddaughter for allowing me this! The burden should not be yours! The struggles of these decisions should not fall on your shoulders! But know I'm not doing it alone! Her other mother/aunt, her father and aunt, and siblings are all being respected and having say and or opinions so she can rest in peace and the past is left in the past!
I want to personally thank my in-laws for feeling the same as I do in that regard and trying very hard to refrain from falling into that evil trap and letting the past define the end! God bless!
This is a path or journey we travel together to give the one thing we all desire to Melody - a final rest, peace, forgiveness and love!!
Today is not the end my friends, today is not ours!
God saw her struggles and said "My child you cannot win, I need you here, come home" March 18, 2026.

Scott remarried Amber
And had three additional half siblings (leaving his information for his discretion)
Melody had 3 children of her own I'm leaving there information out out of respect for them and circumstances that exist…
She was also blessed with an Aunt Vicki that deserves recognition for filling in as her Mom while her father traveled for work or I was unable to be there! Her love and dedication to Melody showed and is still quite apparent! Thank you for all you've done Vicki I cannot express to you how much I love and appreciate you!
Melody had many more aunts and uncles grandparents cousins nieces and nephews! Sheri has been the rock throughout the years and again here while we face this, I want to publicly thank her again for that!!! I truly love and appreciate you Sheri!!
While all feel different, hurt different, remember things differently we all understand the need to let go of yesterday and travel this journey for today or tomorrow.. please respect our families as we travel this road together not alone and allow Melody the ability to finally rest in peace!
God bless
