In loving memory of Melrose Rosa Bernard who passed away peacefully at home on June 1, 2024 surrounded by her devoted daughters.
Melrose was the loving companion and partner in life to the late William L. Heron, whom she continued to love and miss until her dying day.
Melrose was a loving mother to her five children, Pamela Funck(Mike), the late Neilson Bernard, Jr. (Shenny), the late Clint Bernard(the late Lynne), Sharon Krohn(the late Barry), and Nina Ormsbee (Kenny).
Melrose was the true matriarch of her family and successfully raised five children on her own. She radiated warmth, wisdom, and unconditional love throughout her long life. She enjoyed many interests throughout her life, which included cooking and spending time with her family, eating Dungeness Crabs, and an occasional profitable trip to the Casino. Melrose’s greatest joy was being an exceptionally devoted mother to her five children.
Melrose leaves behind her adored grandchildren, Lori, Jay, Neilson, III, Janie, Clint, Jr., Kyle, Dylan, Tracy, Byron, Renee, Stevie, Krystin, Robert, as well as her great-grandchildren; Ian, Seanna, Jovie, Greta, Ellis, Travis, Jr., Wyatt, Dusty, Macie, Hunter, Natalie, Byron, Jr., Christine, Claudia, Ryan, Amber, Vince, Kai, Adelynn and Arianna. She was preceded in death by her two granddaughters, Kasey and Shannon, and great grandson, Gary Joe. Step-grandmother to Ryan, Evan, and Jade. She was also the loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Throughout her life, she maintained a loving friendship with the late Grace Tuttle. We love you mom and we will reunite again in heaven.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Jefferson Memorial Garden Cemetery, 11316 River Road, St. Rose Louisiana 70087.
