Melva Irene Seyfarth

HUDSON – Melva Seyfarth, age 66 of Hudson, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hospital. She was born on October 12, 1957, in Hudson, to the late Charles and Vedetta (Clark) Crater. Melva attended and graduated from Hudson High School, and furthered her education at Adrian College and Siena Heights University. She married Jeff Seyfarth, and although the marriage ended, they remained great friends. He preceded her in death.
Melva held many restaurant jobs in her lifetime, managing several Hardee's Restaurants in Georgia and Florida; and owned a pizza shop near Manitou Beach. She most recently worked at Royal Oak Schools as a custodian. She was very faithful assisting her mother to church every Sunday. She had a great sense of humor and was very sarcastic. Melva loved animals, especially her cats, and enjoyed going to the casino.
Surviving is her brother, Michael Crater; nephews, Brian and Brent Crater; niece, Andrea (Paul Birdsell) Shaffer; great-nieces and nephews, Keegan, Callin, and Kelsey Shaffer, and Kelsynn Birdsell; and special friend, Sharon Wright. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation for Melva will be held at the Eagle-Marry Funeral Home in Hudson on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM, also at the funeral home, with Rev. Wesley Rowan, officiating. Cremation will follow with inurnment at a later date in Prattville Cemetery.
