I met Mel when he was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Easton. I recall one Saturday afternoon at the Church recreation hall where I was preparing my Sunday School lesson. I was surprized to see Mel arrive and immediately gather all the equipment he needed to mop the spacious floor. I knew he was very intelligent and well educated but I began to realize what a humble person he was to take on such a task. Mel, I just want to say I was glad to have met you, thankful for all the after-church chats we had and will honestly and with sorrow miss you.
