Melvin L. Baker

Melvin L. Baker, of Easton, died Friday, January 23, 2026, at New Eastwood Rehabilitation Center in Easton, PA.
Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on January 18, 1942, he was the son of the late Sam and Lucille (Paige) Baker.
He was married to the former Diane (Escott) Baker who died in 2010.
A graduate of Fordson High School, Dearborn, Michigan, School of The Society of Arts and Crafts, The University of Michigan College of Architecture and Design, and the Cranbrook Academy of Art he ended his career as an Art Professor at Lafayette College. In addition, Mel taught art at Brandeis University, Wayne State University, University of Michigan and East Stroudsburg University. His early career included being employed as a car sculptor at the Ford Motor Company.
As hobbies, he enjoyed rock climbing, fishing and the arts.
He was a member of St. Rocco's Roman Catholic Church, Martins Creek, PA and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his friend Jose Plasencia and his family. He is also survived by his dog, Winnie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Rocco's Roman Catholic Church, 6658 School Street, Martins Creek, PA. Entombment in Church Hill Cemetery will be private. The James J. Palmeri 6602 Alpha Ave, Martins Creek, PA is in charge of arrangements.
