Melvin Boomsma

Melvin W. Boomsma, 68, of the town of Springvale, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024 at his home.

Melvin was born November 15, 1956 in Kankakee, IL the son of Milton and Martha Koopmans Boomsma. When Mel was seven years old the Boomsma’s moved to Wisconsin where he attended Rosendale schools and graduated from Laconia High School. Mel farmed with his father and later worked as a mechanic on tractors and cars. Mel was an avid motorcyclist. He enjoyed many years riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles. If not riding them he was working on them. On August 14, 1990 he became a member of the Masters Motorcycle Club and just recently retired from it. Melvin enjoyed attending Edgewood Community Church in Fond du Lac.

Mel is survived by a son: Tim Boomsma of Malone; a grandson, Brandon; a granddaughter, Grayson; a sister, Eunice (Dave) Beekman of Brandon; a brother, Jerry (Linda) Boomsma of Oconto; along with nieces and nephews.

Mel was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Martha Boomsma.

A celebration of Mel’s life will take place on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 12 noon at Edgewood Community Church 609 Thomas St. Fond du Lac WI 54935 with Pastor James Schwindt officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024 from 3-5 p.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Monday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
