Melvin had 2 children, Shawntaye Dean and Ebony Dean-Jackson. He also had 4 Grandchildren. Melvin was the second oldest of 9 children. He is preceded in death by his parents Sherman and Ora Dean.
Melvin graduated from McCrory High School in Arkansas in1970. Melvin worked as a Field Worker/Pumper for Texaco Oil Company where he retired after 26 years of service. Melvin married Marilyn Griffin in 1974.
Melvin leaves behind his beloved family. Brothers, Herman Dean (Lisa), Ralph Dean (Rachael), Jimmy and Clyde (Ketta). Sisters, Peggy, Wonda (Tommy), Verna and Sara. He has a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Melvin and I spent many hours playing Dominoes and talking about life. He will be missed. My condolences to his family.
