Melvin Haney

Melvin Samuel Haney, Jr., 76, of Greer, South Carolina, passed away February 13, 2026.

A native of Spartanburg, South Carolina, son of the late Melvin Samuel Haney, Sr. and Edith West Smith Haney, he was a retired machinist and member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Judy Stanley Haney of the home; two sons, Jason Samuel Haney (Lauren) of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina and Justin Cameron Haney of Woodruff, South Carolina; one daughter, Wendie Ann Rhome (Victor) of Wellford, South Carolina; one brother, Floyd D. Haney (Janie) of Duncan, South Carolina; one sister, Brenda Plemmons (Fred) of Charlotte, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Emma C. Haney, Samuel B. Haney, Jackson P. Swartzel and Charley Beth Schwartzel; one son-in-law, Tre Swartzel of Fountain Inn, South Carolina; and three sisters-in-law, Mary Smith of Spartanburg, South Carlina, Jeanette Smith of Taylors, South Carolina and Diane Smith of Roebuck, South Carolina.

Melvin was predeceased by one son, Jody Andrew Haney; one daughter, Dusty Anne Schwartzel; four brothers, Charles W. Smith, Donald R. Smith, Frankie L. Smith and James Allen Smith; and one sister, Linda Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at The Wood Mortuary Chapel, conducted by Dr. Gene Lockaby. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at The Wood Mortuary.

The family is at the home.
