Melvin "Monk" Horn

Melvin "Monk" Horn, 71 of Hillerman, IL, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Baptist Health Paducah.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Hillerman Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Guy Inman and Carl Horn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Monk was a lifelong farmer, driving tractors since his feet could reach the pedals. He also worked for several years at Golden Cat in Olmsted, IL. He was of Baptist faith and loved to fish. Monk's family always said he was actually from "Gabtown" instead of Hillerman because he never met a stranger and could strike up conversation with anyone. He was loved by all that knew him and is going to be dearly missed.
Monk is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sharon Horn; daughters, Christina Cole and husband Jason, Sarah Harris and husband Stephen, Tina Bodunde, and Karon Hooks; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Doris Martin and husband Jack, Leonard Horn and wife Kim, Janice Cameron and husband Gordon, Terri Veach and husband Lloyd, Carl Horn and wife Rhonda, and Walter Horn and wife Charlotte; honorary brother, Ronnie Inman; several nieces and nephews; and best friend, Leon Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Lee and Rose Ann (Rider) Horn, and long-time friend, Roger Green.
