Melvin "Red" Henry Hulsey, age 96, of
Tomball, Texas, passed away on September 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with pneumonia.
Born on February 26, 1929, in Hempstead, Texas, Melvin was the son of Jesse James and Meomia Hulsey. He was raised in Tomball and remained a lifelong resident of the community he loved. Melvin attended school in Tomball, at age 17 he went on to serve his country joining the United States Navy as a Seaman, stationed in Guam for two years.
Upon his return a dear friend George Conner introduced him to who became the love of his life, Frances Louise Conner. They were married in 1949 and shared 60 wonderful years together. Together they raised four daughters: Judith, Cynthia, Linda, and Debra.
Melvin enjoyed a long and successful career with Exxon, where he worked for over 30 years before retiring in 1986. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Tomball and lived his life with unwavering faith and kindness.
Known to many as "Red," Melvin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family was always his greatest joy and highest priority. He had a passion for gardening and was especially proud of the vegetables and blackberries he grew and shared with friends and family. He also raised cows and chickens and spent many peaceful hours fishing.
Melvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife Louise; his parents Jesse and Meomia Hulsey; his siblings Hazel Fielder, Jake Hulsey, Syble Heath, and Louise Craft.
He is survived by his daughters: Judith Taylor, Cynthia Smith, Linda Hulsey, and Debra Dent; his son-in-law Cecil; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren
A celebration of Melvin's life will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Klein Funeral Home in
Tomball, Texas. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, also at Klein Funeral Home.
Melvin "Red" Hulsey will be remembered as a man of strong faith, gentle spirit, and deep love for his family. His legacy will live on in the many lives he touched.
